چکیده

Abstract Radon, the heaviest among noble gases in periodic table of element is a radioactive nuclide that naturally available rocks, soil and water. It has become subject many research efforts recent years due to its leading role causing cancer. In this study, total 68 groundwater samples were collected assayed using alpha spectrometry with RAD7 radon detector RAD-H 2 O accessories manufactured by Durridge CO (USA). The 222 Rn concentration measured range 0.6–36.2 Bq L −1 an average 13.33 , 7.0–41.5 mean value 23.3 0.6–27.4 7.4 for hand dug wells (HDW), pumped boreholes (HPB) motorized (MBH), respectively. About 54, 86 15% from HDW, HPB MBH, respectively, exceeded parametric reference level 11.1 suggested United State America Environmental Protection Agency but lower than permissible limit 100 World Health Organization (WHO) European Union. annual effective doses resulting inhalation ingestion water obtained three sources are less recommended limits WHO ICRP. data study comparable similar studies conducted Nigeria other parts world as reported literature. Continuous monitoring drinking indoor environment however area.
